National Night Out 2018

The annual National Night Out celebration, which took place on August 7th, was a success as many visitors participated in face painting, enjoyed free snow cones and checked out the Villa Park Police and Fire Department equipment!

Over 37 million people from 16,000 communities  participate in National Night Out nationally. It began as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!

Illinois Changes Laws Involving Texting and Driving

A new law was announced to strengthen penalties for texting and driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, texting and driving is six times more dangerous than drinking and driving. If that statistic isn't enough to shock you, the new law, which goes into effect next July, just might.

Previous to the new law, first time offenses were considered non-moving violations, but they will now be considered moving violations and can result in up to a $75 fine. Drivers with three or more moving violations in a year are subject to a suspended driver's license.

Distracted driving accounts for a quarter of police-reported crashes, so remember to put down your phones and save some lives.

Please Keep Storm Inlets Clear of Debris

Spring is here, which means warmer weather and rainfall. Please be sure to keep storm inlets free of clogs during the wet season to help reduce flooded streets,

Clogged inlets prevent storm water from entering the sewers, which causes standing water in the streets and potentially ice if temperatures reach freezing.

Help your community by keeping storm inlets clear of debris!
