Objective

To improve the condition of the roadway by means of selected pavement rehabilitation methods.

Description

The 2020 Street Improvement Project includes the improvements proposed in the rejected 2019 Street improvement Project. This project consists of the rehabilitation of various streets by means of selected pavement rehabilitation methods.

Justification

The Village's pavement management program has determined that the condition of the streets has deteriorated to the point that pavement rehabilitation is needed. This project is to be partially funded by voter approved bond proceeds.

BIDDING INFORMATION

The project has not yet been advertised for bidding. The Bidding Documents must be obtained electronically at www.questcdn.com for a non-refundable fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00). A “Not for Bid” hard copy of the documents will be on file for inspection at the office of the Village of Villa Park Public Works Department, 11 West Home Avenue, Villa Park, Illinois, 60181, when the project is advertised for bidding.

December 13, 2019Civiltech is working on design. Topographic survey of the project area is in progress. Geotechnical and CCDD testing are expected to take place in the next two to three weeks.

November 15, 2019An agreement with Civiltech Engineering for design engineering of the 2020 Street Improvement Project was approved at the November 11, 2019 Village Board meeting. Civiltech is now working on design.
November 1, 2019Staff has submitted a proposed agreement for design engineering of the 2020 Street Improvement Project for consideration by the Village Board at the November 11, 2019 board meeting. Staff expects to combine the 2019 Street Improvements and the 2020 Street Improvements into a single construction contract.
October 18, 2019The bids for the 2019 Street Improvement Project have been rejected. Staff expects to combine the 2019 Street Improvements and the 2020 Street Improvements into a single construction contract. Staff is working to finalize a proposed agreement for design engineering of the combined project.
September 27, 2019The bids for this project have been rejected. Staff expects to include the improvements proposed under this project in the planned 2020 Street Improvement Project. Staff is working to finalize a proposed agreement for design engineering of the 2020 project.
September 13, 2019A bid opening for this project was held on July 15, 2019. The bids received were significantly over budget. Staff has submitted a recommendation for board consideration to reject all bids received and defer the work until 2020.
July 18, 2019A bid opening for this project was held this week on July 15, 2019. Staff is in the process of reviewing the bids.

June 14 ,2019Staff conducted a review of the design engineer’s pre-final plans this week and provided review comments to the engineer. The design engineer is currently working to make necessary revisions.
