OBJECTIVE

To significantly improve the condition of the roadway by removing the existing deteriorated pavement and replacing it with a new structurally sound pavement. A portion of the project includes storm sewer that will reduce the frequency of surcharging of the combined sewer system.

DESCRIPTION

This project consists of the reconstruction of Astor Court from Summit Avenue to Myrtle Avenue, Myrtle Avenue from Park to Highland, and Euclid Avenue from Kenilworth to Highland, and includes storm sewer construction. Some selective water system and sanitary sewer system improvements are also included.

JUSTIFICATION

The Village's pavement management program has determined that the condition of the street has deteriorated to the point that pavement rehabilitation is needed. This project is to be partially funded by voter approved bond proceeds.

September 13, 2019A bid opening for this project was held on September 10, 2019.  The apparent low bid was submitted by A Lamp Concrete Contractors. Staff has submitted a recommendation for board consideration to award a contract to A Lamp. A construction engineering services agreement with TranSystems Corporation has already been approved.

July 3, 2019Staff held a progress meeting with the design engineer this week. The design engineer is working to finalize plans and bidding documents. The project should be going out to bid by the end of July.
April 25, 2019The Illinois EPA issued financial approval of the Village’s application for loan funding this week. Staff is now working with the consultant to bid the project.
